Champagne Spotlight: Far East Movement at Lago

A friend of mine invited me to go to Lago to see Far East Movement perform over the weekend here in Ottawa. Far Eat Movement is a rap group made of 4 Asian dudes. I know, Asian rappers?!? But as it turns out they put on quite a good show… Especially for Asian rappers. Come on, everyone knows that we’re mainly math and kung-fu people.

Far East Movement’s first single “Round Round” was featured in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Since then they’ve released another album and their songs have appeared on shows such as Gossip Girl, CSI:Miami, Lie to Me and others. They will also be touring with Lady Gaga on the Japanese The Monster Ball Tour. So the last couple of years have been quite successful for them and if you like club music, make sure you keep them on your radar.

Far East Movement’s current hit is called “Like A G6” below. You can see that they are very down to earth guys as most rappers rap about Ferraris and Lamborghinis but they picked a... Pontiac. Maybe it’s just the cheap Asian side coming out. It happens to all of us, explaining why I’ve been using the same kitchen sponge for the past 2 months…

  7. How cool! They look sweet too, a lot of rappers look so damn cheesy. They look more classy than Lady Gaga, I think they just bumped up the class on her tour.

  26. Asian rappers, sure. But white dudes at a rap performance??? Must be a publicity stunt. =)

Thanks for the chuckle and sharing your experience. Have a nice weekend--I'm planning something really exciting, catching up on my sleep!

  27. Oh not bad at all! I really like the beat of that song :) Haha yeah, I get kind of taken back when I hear about Asian rappers. I'm not even into those Asian pop groups at all - not to mention Asian rappers. But wow good for them to get a chance to tour with Lady Gaga. That would be amazing exposure for them. It sounds like such a cool event you went to :)

  34. PS on your comment, ha, I don't really watch the Hills but I catch it whenever my sister has control of the remote. I always thought all the girls were idiots, though I did like Lauren because she straight up said in the beginning of the series that she was doing the show to help her fashion career, so at least she was honest!
And well...Heidi and Audrina always provided entertainment whenever they were on screen. haha
