Prince Says the Internet is Outdated

The singing midget has spoken! Pop star Prince has shunned the internet like a high school girl that got labeled “skank” for making out with a few jocks at a party.

In a recent interview with The Daily Mirror, Prince says he is doing something revolutionary by only releasing his next album as a CD and won’t ever release it on the internet. As Prince explains:

"The internet's completely over. I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it. The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can't be good for you."

Let’s go back to the life without internet. A time where artists can get away with just having 1 good song on their CD and we have to pay $14.99 for the rest of the crap, where one cannot anonymously download porn and have to show their face at the cashier to buy it, where underage boys have to slip a Playboy magazine inside a newspaper to see naked ladies, where wieners cannot randomly curse people over the internet and where annoying bloggers cannot spam on other’s blogs saying 1 liners such as “great post follow me!!”, and you will all receive my blog posts typed up and delivered by my army of carrier pigeons. What a revolutionary idea this is!

  8. Hey :)

LOL, exactly @ where wieners cannot randomly curse people over the internet and where annoying bloggers cannot spam on other’s blogs saying 1 liners such as “great post follow me!!”,

Smh, the internet can't be any more completely over than that dry coloured foundation and mascura he wears, really. Perhaps, Prince has forgotten to move along with the times, because THIS is an internet day. Sorry Princess, I mean Prince....long live the King, I mean Prince....Ha. He's a good artist, but THIS ain't it.

    Have a cool day :)

  9. Hahaha!! I don't know what's funnier: this post or Prince wearing a picture of himself on his shirt?? I don't think anyone takes this man too seriously. Remember when his name was changed to the weird symbol thingy?? That's just Prince being Prince...and I love him for it!

  10. I am completely intimidated with this photo of Prince, my eyebrows shall hide now lolol

  11. I get why musicians would WANT the internet to be over, but sadly for Prince I don't think he can make it so just by wishing it--or hanging on tight to his CD.

  12. LOL - the dude is on some kind of substance. What is he talking about?! Getting paid in advance by iTunes? LOL. Obviously he's feeling a bit ripped off that his music may be downloaded more often than his CDs are selling?
Yah, I totally understand the "great post follow me" blogger comments *sigh* ah well.
Thanks for getting back to me on the hijab/others topic - I couldn't agree more with you on that. I even recall the case of the few women who got compensation from the postal company they worked for because they felt very offended when asked to wear a uniform so they don't trip on their clothes (hijab or such) from climbing a ladder at work. Only Canada I tell ya.
Regarding your question on clothes or accessories hit by tax, The Toronto Star did a short overview on what's affected and not affected by the HST. It's a good link and it's here:
    http://www.thestar.com/topic/hst#interactive
For clothing and stuff, only Dry Cleaning is affected from what I can see in the chart. Children's clothes are still 5% tax. Expect hydro bills to go up because of HST. And things like Vitamins and magazine subscriptions now have higher tax. So does getting your hair done now and esthetician stuff (manicures etc). Hope that helps Hun :)

  16. Hahahaha! That was awesome! Wow, what will he say next? And it looks like he is wearing a picture of himself on his shirt. What an idiot.

  17. Yes, or blog posts folded in a bottle and then thrown in the river. I like the picture you've used in this post, he looks like he's saying " Kids, don't do drugs" or in this case " Internet is evil, consider yourself warned"

  18. wow,,, it's been forever since I heard about how he has been doing. Thankx for the update!!

  19. I can't believe Prince said that! I had no idea until I read your blog entry. I totally agree that it is crazy that you have to buy a cd that has one good song on it but the rest are total crap. On iTunes you get to buy only the songs that you like.

    ReplyDelete
  20. hahaha....he's is so yesterday....I would never buy his cd's anyways....his songs are so lame....

    ReplyDelete
  21. hahaha....hmm he is a strange cat. i don't even know what to say to that. lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. hahaha! his album probably leaked already and he doesn't even know it. but yea, totally hated buying the whole album when there was only one good song on it!

    ReplyDelete
  23. He's entitled to his opinion, and other people are allowed to think he's a moron. Just some peopel's opinion...

    ReplyDelete
  24. They won't pay him in advance. That's the reason! IF they did it would probablly be the best thing since sliced bread. xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  25. ok that gave me a good laugh... he thinks the internet is outdated... yeah right... we are just getting more and more swept in unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That was really fun ... haha!=DI do not know how
    more with out Internet.

  28. Haha just kidding. ;)

    Other obnoxious blog comments:

"Thanks for the comment! Come visit my blog again soon!"

    or

"Hey just found your blog. Maybe you could visit mine and become a lifelong follower? Thanks!"

    Etc.

    Anyway, I digress.

This Prince nonsense just makes me roll my eyes. The internet is not a "fad." I'm confused how he can compare an entire form of technology and communication to a cable channel...? It's just so ridiculous, I'm too stunned to come up with a good argument. Maybe he's just bitter about the old days when he could pump out crap and force people to buy it, other than dealing with itunes downloads? Or maybe he's just bitter b/c he's old and doesn't understand twitter and facebook and myspace. He sees music artists use them today and that scares him...who knows? What a nutcase.

  29. I know i couldn't stop laughing...def not surprised..he also renamed himself as the "The artist formally known as Prince" LOL

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hasn't he kind of been over since the nineties? And, sorry, Prince, if you wanted to make some statement about Itunes by NOT letting your album out there, I think ACDC and the Beatles already did that without being quite so obnoxious... Actually this little statement makes me think you're trying to garner attention for your new CD because it's obviously not going to be a top 100 anything without your weird commentary...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Weird! You think if anyone would know about being outdated it would be the Artist No One Cares About Anymore.

But you might have something there with people only being able to curse me to my face. I'd like that! =)

    ReplyDelete
  32. the internet is most definitely NOT outdated. LOL i dont know how i would live without it!

    ReplyDelete
  33. hehehehe, saying 'i just don't know about the internet' is about as cool as saying 'i prefer things when they were crap. like the unicycle, and homing pigeons'.

    ReplyDelete
  34. hehe thank you :D ugh .. how could a classic 90s band not play their classic song? i'd say they're not ladies at all. hahaha jk :D

  36. Well, he is entitled to his own opinion. But I guess internet is both a boon and a bane. It has it's advantages, but if overused, it can cause disadvantages too.

  37. Snort. Ha ha. He's funny. I like that he thinks the internet just fills our heads with numbers of whatevs. What then, does he believe is the future?!

  38. You are hilarious...That's why I find myself coming back to your blog so often.
"great post follow me"....the shallowest blogging practice ever!

  43. haha nice take on it- I agree with you, he's so weird. haha, carrier pigeon blog... hmm? I bet you could work it!

  44. I think he does have a point, some of us really spend too much online, I know I do sometimes. It's a way to escape for some. The problem is, he criticizes internet, because he thinks he's losing money by illegal downloads. He's totally wrong. His music is outdated. He was big in the 80s, early 90s, but then he became boring, his music became average. Only die hard fans like him today. It's rather sad.
