The Smiths: Like Mother Like Kid

Because there is a Snooki poof in all of us, Jada Smith got the mini poof while Willow Smith got the full-on poof for the Karate Kid premiere in Paris. Speaking of which, did your mom ever get the hairdresser to cut your hair like hers? I was 11 when my mom forced me to have her hair in which I ended up with the Nick Carter mushroom cut. Unlike Jada Smith, my mom is not cool at all. It resulted in me getting mistaken for a prepubescent boy quite a few times. Perhaps my love for pink and glittery things now is a result from my traumatic childhood.

P.S Jaden Smith is going to be one good looking dude (like his dad) when he grows up.

  1. that's one fierce family!
lol at snooki poof! i could never do that to my hair, it always ends up all wrong, or it just looks wrong on me.
When I was young my hair looks exactly like julia roberts' do in my best friends wedding. so that's a ton of hair on an 8 year old! lol

  6. Hey :)

Haha @ "I was 11 when my mom forced me to have her hair in which I ended up with the Nick Carter mushroom cut." --- "It resulted in me getting mistaken for a prepubescent boy quite a few times.".

If someone indeed could write a book on "haircutting," I'd be the girl to do. My hair has been all lengths and style - well expect for bald. Maybe I should tho then wear really loud colours, smoke ciggies that make me age quicker, talk real disty and find me a rapper to "put me on" smh. :::Sneaky smile::: LOL. I kid i kid. Willow's hairstyle is....interesting on her. I would've thought she'd got a cut that covered up those Dumbo ears - but ya kno.

    Have a cool day :)

  15. That is one fabulously good looking family loving her style too.
Luckily my mum never made me have hair like her but she would also not let me do anything with my hair until I was 16 xoxo

  17. Haha at your Snooki Poof ;)
OMG yah my Mom totally tried (AND succeeded) in giving me a freaking mushroom cut when I was like 10 years old. Totally trying to de-sexify me or something!! Maybe that's why I love glittery things and all things remotely feminine too LOL Ah hem like lots of makeup! I totally will not put my daughter through that (if I have a daughter). Seriously, there ARE other ways to keep the boys away from your daughter rather than de-sexifying them (thanks Mom! That's why I keep my hair is soooo long now!)
And it's toooo funny that picture you chose of Nick Carter. Oh Lord I hate to admit it but I did have a crush on him eons ago. How sad!! I totally lost respect for him after he dated Paris Hilton (but at that point, I was older, more mature, wiser and didn't find him attractive anymore anyways!). BUT that picture you chose of the Backstreet Boys was actually a poster that I use to have in my bedroom when I loved them!! Tooo funny - crazy memories. Did you have a crush on one of the Backstreet Boys? Common, I won't tell anyone ;)

  21. The family looks so cool together :D having a stylish mum helps alot too haha, but i think they have their own stylist for the whole fam :p

  22. Very hip looking family although I'm not sold on the hair but at least it's trendy! My mom did keep our hair long and wanted her hair long as well... but I think it rubbed off on me!

  23. Definitely agree Jaden is going to be such a stud when he grows up! I love his personality too, very similar to his dad :)

  24. You're not the only with a mushroom cut as a kid! :( sniff the horror days.. hehe the Smith family is looking good though. Aw there are no egg puffs in Ottawa? Maybe you can open an egg puff/Asian dessert shop there :D

  25. Holy crap I was never that cool as a kid! They must have a stylist for them. Amazing, they all look smashing.

  28. Their family is ridiculously fashionable~ Kind of my dream family. The kids are edgy, the dad is hot, and the mom is sophisticated. What's not to love?

And don't feel too bad about the mushroom hair cut. .I myself sported the bowl haircut until high school. D:

  29. There are a lot of memories about 11 year-olds floating around this week. I can't imagine you mistaken for a boy.

Oh why couldn't I have had hair like Kid! Or was it Play? Oh well, I've had the same haircut since I was 11--5th grade...although it was been drastically different lengths since then.

  30. I love Jada! She's so cool. Months ago, I heard that her daughter Willow had actually styled her hair after Rihanna but I guess now mother and daughter are matching too.

LOL I can't believe your mom made you cut your hair.. because mine did too! It was horrible. Although I didn't have a bowl/mushroom cut, it was really short -almost like a pixe cut. She wanted me to have a short "model" hairstyle and I was so horrified. I cried during the enti re haircut. After my hair grew out, my hair stayed at my waist or longer for the longest time.

  31. omg this is horrible she got the double shaved cassie hair-doo...jjjjYyyyuck!

  36. The legs on their daughter! Crazy <3
When my mom came from from a trip to visit Germany in the late 80's, guess I was in gr. 8? She convinced me to get 2 more ear piercings in one ear and cut my hair except leave enough for a foot long braided tail behind one ear. Yep. What the?! It was all the rage there...um not in my town. No regrets actually, I had my own style :)

  38. that kid looks so fierce!
i had long hair since i remember (not taking into cosideration the dreadlocks i had for a while...). thank god, my mum never forced me to change my hairstyle...

  39. I love the Smith Family! There's not a bad looking one in the bunch! And I have my share of horror stories with regards to childhood hairstyles growing up. My mom was a hairstylist, so I was her guinea pig all throughout my childhood years!

  40. wow! This is such a cool family!!!
I totally agree with you that he will grow up to be one handsom guy!

  41. Waay too much for a kid. I mean I get it, rockstar and being fabulous but it's a lil too much on the glam factor scale. I like the pants though! xoxo

  44. Have you seen the Karate Kid remake yet? Jaden Smith is like his dad in more ways than one; his mannerisms when he's goofing around, comedic timing and set-up--it was like watching Fresh Prince Jr.
