Lookbook: Never Too Blue

Ottawa doesn't have a lot of clothing stores so usually I make a trip to Montreal for my shopping fix. The Urban Outfitters dress below was on sale, was the last one and happened to be my size. I was estatic as usually sale items never have size small! Whoever came up with the report that 75% of Ontario people are overweight must be lying, because Toronto has the prettiest girls I've seen and I can never find my size in Ottawa...

Regardless, doesn't matter what size you are, as long as you're happy and healthy I say that's good enough. But if you have a bunch of health issues, that's okay, we pay an arm and a leg in taxes every year for our "free" health care, so you might as well use it.

Dress: Urban Outfitters
Vest: Forever 21
Sunglasses: Gucci
Necklace: The Bay

  17. The dress is cute on you, but the vest is cuter. Love the color and shape. I have heard of the free care in Canada and how hard it is to find a good doctor. Then there's the American way, where no one can afford going to the dr.'s and wait till the illness gets out of control, then they are forced to go to emergency room and from then on, we the tax payers pay for it anyways. It's a lose lose situation.

  27. I love that dress! And I agree with you, there are some seriously small gals shopping at my Urban Outfitters too! Maybe the skinny ones just have more money and are buying in multiples??

  28. LOVELY DRESS!!! The detailing is so unique.
Don't you feel FABULOUS that you found the last one and it happened to be in your size?! It's like destiny. I think that's one of my favorite things about shopping. Feeling special because it seems as if that item was meant for you. And ontop of that it was on SALE! I hate going through the sale sections at Urban because it's ALWAYS messy. I'm surprised you found the dress...

  32. The 75% must be the old ladies and guys. You're right, happy and healthy is the important thing. I think I read somewhere that Marilyn Monroe was a size 12. Anyway, you seem pretty healthy, so I hope you're paying taxes for nothing for a long, long time.

We're on the road to "free" health care in the US...but our version is going to include death panels.

  34. I agree about the whole thing about there never being size smalls and xsmalls in the sale section.. There are always a TON of larger sizes. I just wonder why stores don't stock more small sizes if they KNOW those sizes are always selling out?? And of course this isn't in offense to anyone but seriously, if there's zero smalls but 100s of large sizes, they need to do something about that.

  36. I love this country inspired sweetheart outfit on you :) I especially love the second picture.
It's funny you mentioned that statistic in your post. Earlier today I was at a mall in Brampton - which is a suburb of Toronto. I was there with my parents to pick up a few things and it's been ages since I have been to that mall. After about 10 minutes of walking around in there, I said to my Mom, "Wow, there are a LOT of overweight people here in Brampton". It's sooooo true. And my Mom said, "yeah there's a recent report saying 70% of people in Canada are overweight". Yep. In downtown Toronto people are much much slimmer and I believe the study saying people who walk more in cities are a bit slimmer. Well, whatever it is, I was a bit shocked today at that suburbian mall. You're right though about Ottawa. On my last couple of trips there, I didn't see many overweight people like in Brampton mall

  39. Love the third picture where you're standing next to that door and that green lace vest. Good thing I am a medium sized person, I have friends that wear small and finding clothes turns out to be quite an adventure for them. I understand that obesity is a problem now, but I am afraid soon Medium size will be hard to fin. Rather than designing bigger and bigger clothes why not help them out to fit in those that are already available.
