Vivienne Westwood Refuses To Design Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

Designer Vivienne Westwood gave Kate Middleton a big red “REJECT” stamp on designing her wedding dress because she thinks Kate's style is too outdated. As Vivienne says in Daily Mail

"I would have loved to have dressed Kate Middleton but I have to wait until she kind of catches up a bit somewhere with style.

Sorry, I'm not going to say any more, that's it. When people ask me where she's going to get the dress from - she's definitely not going to get it from me."

True, Kate Middleton is no Kate Moss. And as much as I like some of Vivienne's stuff from her collection, Vivienne as a person sounds like your b*tchy aunt who tells you that you look fug in that shirt and stupid in those pants no matter what you wear and meanwhile she dresses like a gypsy offering to read your future through tarot cards.

From Kate Midlleton’s cowboy hat, Aladdin pants, leopard dress and the cleavage peeping dress, home girl is like the Alanis Morissette of the fancy-schmancy-crown club! When Kate marries the prince and they do their tour, she will just smile and do her royal wave to Vivienne Westwood and to the rest of us- in which we all know it really means “kiss my royal princess ass!”

Here are some outfits from Vivienne's Red Label Autumn 2011 in London Fashion Week.

  2. I loved Vivienne Westwood's wedding dress for Carrie in Sex & the city but wow I'm shocked at the dig at Middleton. I don't think she's fugly at all & I think she dresses like a lady. Yeesh!!!

  3. long live vivian, i say! i adore kooky old fashion lasses like that, and while everyone is wetting themselves thinking "omfg what will she where?", its like WHO CARES????? seriously. who. the. eff. cares. not this guy. and not vivian. there. i said.

  4. Prince William is really going "out the box" w/Kate....and I think it's good go =). Kind-of reminds me of the movie "What a Girl Wants." Not that Kate is like Amanda Bynes' character in the movie, but just the concept of a girl coming in a circle where she's not necessarily what the first choice would've been. As for Vivienne, somebody needs to just throw a bucket of water on that Wicked Witch and melt her ASAP! And she needs to dye her hair white to go along with her age...because that Bette Milder orange makes her look like some urban vodo doll.

  5. Wow this is insane ! Vivienne Westwood is on a roll. She snubbed Emma Watson at an award shoe recently.

  6. Award show...sorry I have shoes on the brain.

  7. I love this woman evrytime more. I love her style, her trasgression and her anticonformism mind. However, she is right, too, KAte needs to grow up!

  8. and that's why we always called her crazzy Vivienne!! this old Lady really has an attitude, after her walked out at Sex and The City premiere (in fact the film gave a big credit for her because of the stunning wedding gown but she felt that the stylist of that movie so failed) i'm sure this time will come. Reffer to "save and cheap" of Kate Middleton's fashion sense. Kate almost never wore those hi-class brand, but i'm pretty like her style..it's a lady like for me. I don't know bout Vivienne, she's too arogant (excuse me, how old is she?).. but i can't deny that she bloody has an amazing talent in this industry!!

And like you said.. "I got the prince, so if you don't want to design a gown for me i still have Vera Wang on my list!"

  11. that's so true, she herself dresses like some tarot card readers, which i don't buy at all...(the dress style)

and as far as the bottle of the new rihanna fragrance, personally i think it looks rather hideous.. :(

  12. That is quite hilarious and Vivienne Westwood has some spunk to deny royalty! I understand her denial though, the princess-to-be styles herself as classic and simple. I can't see Westwood making a dress that is simple and classic ...she likes to push fashion boundaries!

  13. what a biyotch!! plus how fashion forward is kate middleton suppose to dress anyways.. she's about to be the next queen of england!

  14. OMG thats terrible for her to say i mean i would say it to my friend .... haha but not out loud and publicly! lol

  15. I like Vivienne Westwood, but that quote is just rude!

  16. =) I hated Westwood's wedding dress in sex & the city. Maybe it was the headpiece, it was just weird. And I think Kate has a good taste, mainly among many other british girls that are so "more is more" all the way.

  17. I do like some of Vivienne Westwood's work but for someone who dresses like a crazy hobo, she sure sounds elitist.

  19. Got to love Vivienne for speaking her mind. She did something like that recently, when she said she has no idea who Emma Watson is and that she never saw Harry Potter.
I love people who are blunt and don't have a speech prepared every time.
This just proves that you don't always get what you want, even though you are a soon to be princess.

P.S. Enstyle is awesome, it's like Lookbook.nu, but it's only on Facebook. You should check it out sometimes.

  20. Kate Middleton's look may not be the most fashion-forward, but like the other commenters pointed out, it's ladylike and suits someone who's going to be marrying into royalty. Anyway, Grace Kelly was always ladylike and classic. She, like Kate, was a commoner who married a prince and is now considered a style icon. The woman had an Hermes bag named after her! So Kate's in good company despite what Vivienne Westwood may think.

  21. Now this is the side of fashion that I love. It's in your face and out there. It's kinda like the whole 'I don't give a damn...Ima do me' type of fashion!

  22. wow I can't wait to see what she does

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wow, really? Reeally? I like Kate Middleton's style! She's no Olivia Palermo but she's not clueless either!

  24. This is pretty funny. :) I love Vivienne Westwood, she's a badass!

  25. HAHAHHA, oh, I'm glad I didn't ask for her help then ; D MAN she delivers info straight off the assembly line.

  28. WOW! That is really surprising! I think her designs on kate would be a very interesting combination!

    ReplyDelete
  29. If Kate Middleton doesn't bite back she'll be the polite one in this exchange!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Haha, I hadn't heard this! I adore VW, and would love to see KM in her design, specifically because VW is synonymous with Brit style. Too bad!

  31. You always have the best gossip here!
I'm glad Westwood isn't designing the princess's gown ... I love Kate's style, it's classy and timeless which can't be said for the old woman ... at least how she looks there!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Umm Kate is going to be a princess, not a supermodel. How insulting! :( I happen to think Kate has a very modest and classy style, which is perfect for representing a nation. If she dressed like Lady Gaga, I would be concerned. So, I think VW can shove it. She clearly is going senile and doesn't know what is going on anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  33. i actually really like that last outfit. i would love to get dressed in that. and wow, what a burn!

i bet kate's style will drastically change once she becomes a princess.

    ReplyDelete
  34. No, way?!?! I didn't know that.. Oh, wow.. I do like her collections though..

    ReplyDelete
  35. What a crazy lady- who would say no to royalty? Imagine the coverage she would get (not that she needs it). Ah well, I'm sure Kate will find someone more than willing!

    ReplyDelete
  36. She probably was the one rejected from Kate, lol this post is funny.
    Kisses!

    ReplyDelete
  37. That wasn't a very nice thing to say! Oh well! I'm sure Kate has plenty of designers tripping over themselves to design her dress.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That ain't cleavage peeping!! Maybe compared to the Queen Mum or something. A person as no choice if you want to date royalty but to dress very very formally especially for your young age. Noooo drunken nights out without undies!
Yeah that was a bit rude of what Ms. Westwood said in regards to Kate Middleton....yah, I guess we all have that rude aunt huh in our large families

    ReplyDelete
  39. she's mean and rude what the heck!! hehehe she have all the guts to say NO to a next royal princess? err... wow!

I knew it becoming a princess is a boring job, and to think she would only wear some of the best formal dresses! :P

  40. ouch.. =___= it must suck to be declined by such a famous designer. that's really got to hurt. :/

    ReplyDelete
  41. vivienne is a jerk! i didn't know that!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ahhhh very interesting! I don't think Westwood would be the right designer for Kate anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think Kate has a classic style -- you really can't beat that.

  48. I don't think Kate Middleton could pull off a VW number though, so this may be for the best.

    ReplyDelete
  49. woahh lol..I can't believe she snubbed Kate like that. I wouldn't exactly say that Kate's style is outdated though...I feel like she purposely doesn't try to look more trendy/edgy maybe, because she has to look the part of a member of the Royal Family.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think Kate has the right style for a future princess., she looks classy and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  51. huh...she could've just said a polite NO if she didn't want to design one. Oh well, I'm sure other dress designers are thrilled b/c whoever KM wears, it'll be the talk of the town. KM is well-loved too so it seems like a bad move to say No so...emphatically :P
