Book Review: "Strutting It!" by Jeanne Beker

Do you want to be a model? Wouldn't it be nice to travel the world, wear clothes before they hit the stores, hang out with stars, and see yourself in magazines? Being a model is many girls' dream, but what does it take to be one?

Canadian Fashion Television host Jeanne Beker reveals it all in her book "Strutting It". Jeanne describes what it takes to be a model and provide steps on how to be a successful one. It takes not just a pretty face, but also a dynamic personality and a sense of style to set you apart. With a foreword by Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha, the book discuss the ups and downs of being a model, and reveals what it is really like behind the glamour and the camera.

This book is a good read for those that are curious about the modeling industry. It also serves as a guide for aspiring models. The pages are also packed with biographies of successful models as well Jeanne Beker speaks the hard truth without the fluff. It's an easy book to read and I recommend it for those looking for information on what the modeling world is really like.

Some memorable quotes from the book:

1. "The best models always manage to transcend any prejudices they may have, maintain a positive attitude, and morph into the fantasy that is best for the team" - P.39

2. "Vintage clothing and accessories also have great style appeal and are highly appreciated by just about everybody who works in fashion... Anyone with money can go into a fancy designer boutique and buy a hot new bag of a fabulous pair of shoes." -P.24

3. "It's important to have some sort of long-range goal in mind - even though that goal may change over time, morphing into something quite different." -P.59

4. "As with life, there's an awful lot of grit behind that glamour." - P.74
