Royal Tea Party With Jeanne Beker

Last week, I had the chance to attend the Royal Tea Party hosted by Jeanne Beker, the host for Canadian Fashion Television. The goal of the event was to raise money for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. The guests had a chance to meet Jeanne, watch a fashion show from retails in St.Laurent with make up by Mel and the team, as well enjoy tea provided by Thyme & Again.

The decorations from Lee-Ann for the venue was glamorous and everyone had a great time at the event. It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon with your girl friends. Here are some pictures from Love K.

Jeanne then later debuted her line "Edit" at The Bay in St. Laurent mall. The attendees had a chance to get intimate with her by listening to her talk about her line and asking her questions. Here are some of the Q&A highlights:

What is your goal of "Edit"?
I designed "Edit" from the editor's point of view. The point of "Edit" is that the pieces are timeless and gives you the basic canvas you need to create your own personal stamp. With any of the items, you can mix and match your favourite necklace or pair of pants and make it your own.

What is your favourite piece in your line?
I love the trench coat, you can take off the sleeves and make it into a dress or wear just the sleeves like a short jacket to cover your arms. And like all other pieces in the collection, it will stay in style for multiple seasons.

What are some challenges in your professional life?
When you're in the entertainment industry, you have to keep on reinventing yourself. You have to keep pushing and try new things especially when you are in the public eye. If you are a fashion designer, you are only as good as your last collection. It's a scary business, and I always tell myself "don't be afraid and never give up".

What does it take to be a designer?
You have to be fearless and always get back up. Designers also have to be psychologists in a way that they have to know what people want, how they want to feel and what they need while designing their collection.

Thanks to Susan for the invite for the intimate session at The Bay, as well special thanks to Bernice from St.Laurent and Stephanie for the wonderful tea party invite.
