Lookbook: A Trick Of The Tail

IMG_6659 logo

Last weekend was hot and sunny but I was too busy to be outside- other than when I took these photos. That’s okay because I don’t tan and avoid the sun like a plague. It's kind of an Asian thing. A while ago when I was in Vancouver, I saw an old Asian lady who was walking backwards on a sidewalk while docking the sun on her face with her hands. She looked like a wack job but at least she didn’t get a tan.

These sandals are a gift from Rockport. They got amazing cushion on the bottom so I can wear them all day without my feet getting sore. They’re one of my few pairs of shoes with heels that doesn’t give me blisters.

  19. There is something about denim shorts but I always fall for that look. You have a beautiful skin so really no need to tan.

  20. You look great. A very summer feel :) It's too bad you don't tan... Is it because you burn or you are being healthy avoiding the UV rays?! Thankfully I don't get usually burn but tan when I'm out in the sun. But I do put a lot of sunscreen on when I know the UV is high.

  21. I used to play under a stretch of power lines just like those--they intersected railroad tracks (that I also played on). I spent a lot of time in such places, but never witnessed a photo shoot in any of them. Thanks for sharing what I missed. =)

  22. I get you on the tanning thing, but I do so love being on the beach and feeling that warm sun on my skin! High spf and sitting under trees/umbrellas is essential though for beach trips - I don't want to get too dark and sweaty!

    Btw, cute shoes!

  23. The shoes are amazing. =) Great to see you're still hanging on with me. I followed as well, thought I was doing that but see now that I am.

Dang lucky you dont tan. I tan like craaazy & it doesn't help that I walk to campus for summer school everyday. It's like walking in a freaking 103 degree burning oven. :( Too bad I'm not brave enough to carry an umbrella.

  33. I love the simplicity of your outfit and the braided sandals from Rockport look so nice on you! Rockport has really come a long way in terms of fashion - some of their shoes are so fashionable now yet they still retain the classic comfort they're known for. I absolutely agree that their heels are super duper comfortable.

  42. Haha I agree. I used to revel in getting so dark in the summers, but my skin is starting to feel its effects, so I try to avoid the sun! Unfortunately lifeguarding, no matter how diligent I am, has gotten me noticeably darker!

  43. i have one of those tail too~~~but couldnt find a nice bag to give it a home~~~~

  44. i guess a tan doesnt match asian features right?
love your summerish look! if you want to avoid the sun, dont come to brazil! lol
    its sunny throughout the year!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Love the outfit! It's very casual chic :D

Lol I've seen Asian ladies carrying umbrellas in broad daylight, but never walking backwards to avoid the sun! I personally prefer the look of fair skin anyway - we may look pasty in the summer now, but at least our skin won't look like wrinkled leather handbags when we're older!

    ReplyDelete
  46. youre soo freaking cute like omg. and uh, hells yeah i avoid the sun too. totally an asian thing lol. oh, us Asians are so cute arent we? lol. but really, love this summer look and your bag is off the walls hella cute!
