These were originally an old pair of jeans. I got bored and decided to cut them into shorts and then dye it ombre. The process is super easy, and it's just against fashion blogger rules to spend money buying something when it is so easy to make!
Here are the steps:
1. You would need a pair of shorts, water, bleach, and a bucket or sink. Household bleach is sufficient.
2. Fill the sink with half bleach and half water. Place the shorts in as far as you want it to bleach. Leave it for 30 minutes.
3. To get the ombre look, slowly add more bleach in the water and pull the shorts higher. I waited about 15 minutes in between adding more bleach.
After you are done, you can manually rinse the shorts to get the bleach off or throw it in the washing machine on it's own.

Cool, I learned something new! I was familiar with hombre, but not ombre. I had to read it twice too get the idea. I had it backwards. At first I was thinking the shorts stayed still and you got the slightly less faded look by adding only water a little at a time...so the higher the water, the weaker the bleach. My brain isn't 100% today. =)
ReplyDeleteOoh, what a great diy! I love the end result, it definitely makes boring shorts pop :)
ReplyDeleteWell done!! Those shorts look amazing! :)
