DIY: Ruffle Heels

A pair of shoes I DIY'ed for Ottawa Style Magazine. I love these so much more with the ruffles that I thought I'd share. All you need is ribbons and a glue gun!

Here are the steps:

1. You would need a pair of shoes with a back that covers the heel, glue gun, and ribbons.

2. Glue the ribbon on the bottom on the heel, fold the ribbon and glue the fold down.

3. Glue each fold a little higher than the previous and work your way up to the top of the heel. Make sure the distance between the folds is consistent.

4. Cut the ribbon when you have covered the heel in folds (now ruffles) to the top.

5. Cut two circular pieces from a piece of thick fabric. Sew or glue the ribbon onto the fabric starting from the outer ring, work your way until you reach the center of the circle.

6. Glue the flower onto your heel and you are done!

  16. Very pretty! I think I've mentioned my brother used to put stripes on his sneakers to try to make them look like chuck taylors. Before I met you, that was the only DIY shoe project I'd ever encountered....I never imagined anyone could do what you've done with shoes.
