Boyfriend jacket from Choies. I love the leather trimming! I just finished reading Fifty Shades of Grey. I don't like it at all. Firstly, mechanically the book is poorly written. Secondly, I understand that infatuation cause your IQ to get reduced to 60, I'm often guilty of that myself... But Christian Grey is an egotistical control freak who orders Anastasia what to eat, what to wear, the number of times to go to the gym and borderline stalks her... And Ana was all for it! Why? Because Christian is hot, buys her lavish gifts, and good in bed- What a great message!
It makes me sad that our female ancestors fought for equality and now women fantasize Christian Grey. Anastasia Steele is no different than Heidi Montag- In the first season of The Hills she went to L.A as an independent woman and now all she is mentally capable of is play hot potato with Spencer Pratt while hiss "you're just jealousssss" at everyone else.

The review was hilarious! And if it's true, then I'm glad I didn't even go near the book. I can't even believe there's gonna be part 2 and 3! What is the literary world coming to?!
I can't bring myself to read that book, I feel like it would piss me off too much and I'd wind up hurling it at someone's head. On a happier note, I LOVE that jacket - the blue and leather are so perfect together.

ReplyDeleteI haven't read the book yet but I know what it is about and I don't think I would appreciate the contents. My friend sent me the PDF version to read on my phone. She said it is stupid but you will find yourself hooked onto reading chapters after chapters. I've yet to try it coz my screen is too small.

ReplyDeleteFifty Shades started out as Twilight BDSM fan fiction, so it's no surprise the book is terrible. That being said, I'm not going near it with a ten-foot pole in case I accidentally end up liking it. (That happened to me with Twilight lol.)

ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you about 50 Shades, although I'll confess I went on to read the sequel just out of curiosity. I find the Twilight saga even worse! It's the same bad message and that book is directed at young girls, sad!

I've heard of the book, but know nothing about it. Until now. Is that a secret fantasy for some girls? To have a guy take care of everything and make every decision? I mean, if it is, I can totally do that!!! lol, in reality that would be awfully boring. I actually get a little annoyed when my wife won't offer an opinion on things--like where to go for dinner.

LOL! I read the blurb of Fifty Shades of Gray and I immediately wonder why my SAHM friends were all on it like flies on poop. It really degrades human being and its existence to its lowest degree. Why oh why...
ReplyDeleteHavent read it and honestly I'm not tempted to. Already I have caved by reading the series of "Twilight" and "Hunger Games", both were horrible. The messages they send to people (especially young women) are not empowering. It's sad that people are raving about these books. The only good "fad series" I have enjoyed so far is "Game of Thrones".

I didn't read the book and had no desire to. And after reading what you wrote, I'm so happy I never read it. I prefer books with strong female leads as opposed to 50 Shades.

It really makes me scared that the next generation of girls is going to grow up with the idea that Bella (Twilight) and Ana are "strong" female characters. Ugh, I could (and have) rant forever about this book and I only read 1/3 of it.

I haven't read it but from the more 'proper' reviews...it seems to be just a book with not much value to literature, just a huge erotica with a constantly downwards plot! I love your cobalt blue jacket and your lenses, fun!
