Bluenose II

{photos by Ian and me}

The Bluenose is probably the most famous ship in Canada. It's that ship on the dime. I had a chance to visit the Bluenose II when I was in Lunenburg and well... It looks like a ship. I don't really know what else to say! The thought of buying a Bluenose souvenir crossed my mind except I figured I'll just refer to a Canadian dime instead.

The first Bluenose raced a lot and eventually sank. Then they built Bluenose II, which is the boat in these photos. That's the extent of my boating knowledge. To be honest the only other boats I can name off the top of my head right now is the Titanic, Santa Maria, Black Pearl, U.S.S. Constitution, Theodore the friendly tugboat, Flying Dutchman, and half of those are fictional.

  7. Lol, the only other ship I know of (other than the ones you mentioned) is the Queen Mary, and that's because it's docked in Long Beach, CA. :)

  9. The dime was a good choice! There's a similar shop in the Baltimore harbor, but I can't recall the name. USS Enterprise (the Capt. Kirk one) is awfully famous...and the Mayflower.

    I need to spend some time on the water this summer.
