A few weeks ago I helped Justyna with some backstage shots at one of her styling gigs. Minus taking pictures I also had fun frolicking the jewelries as mentioned on my twitter. Then at one point Justyna said "geeze, why don't you just pile it all on?". So, as seen in pictures... I called her on it. Apparently I don't understand sarcasm unless it's done with a hash tag. #sarcasm.

DIY: Silver Metallic Jeans

One would think metallic cease to exist after the holidays, but it’s still quite alive and kicking. I first saw a pair of cool Acne metallic jeans for $110, which is a good chunk of change. Seeing I’ve been a bad person who spends and spends with all the current sales, I took the liberty to DIY a pair of old pants into a metallic goodness.

Here are the steps:

1. You would need an old pair of grey or black jeans, silver/gold, white and black metallic fabric paint, clear varnish, and a sponge brush.

2. Start painting with the silver paint. The paint does not need to be evenly distributed and cover all of the surface area as uneven blotches is part of the charm.

3. Blend the silver with black and white paint. Paint on top of the first silver coat. Use vertical strokes and try to blend the colors together.

Note: Spray clear varnish on the pants and let it dry for 24 hours after you finish painting for extra protection.

Minus the cost of the pants, the project cost me $10 and leaves me with a potential $100 I saved… which possibly translate a trip to the mall? yayaya.

Hanging out with a mocha from Starbucks, an amazing view and the ever so soft Soleone tank dress. The tank dress has become my weekend uniform to lounge. It sure beats being outside at -20C with my puffy winter jacket which from behind, make me look like the sexually ambiguous aunt that craft wind chimes out of Pepsi cans. I do like Pepsi though.

It's the perfect balance of a statement piece yet not being mistaken as Big Bird's concubine- I'm an Oscar The Grouch fan anyways.

DIY: Hemp And Beads Bracelet

I first saw this Club Monaco wrap bracelet and I loved it. But I didn't want to spend $35 when I can make my own. These hemp bracelets are pretty much the new friendship bracelets lately, as they're just as easy to make. Because even good things need an update once in a while.

Here are the steps:

1. You will need some hemp, thread, beads and a button. (The hemp should be at least double the length you want your bracelet to be)

2. Fold the hemp in half and knot it. Make sure the hole is just big enough for the button to fit through. Wrap the thread around the hemp about 5 times. Thread your beads on like the picture below.

3. When you get your ideal length, wrap the thread around the hemp 5 times and knot it. Add the button at the end of the hemp.

4. Hide the hemp under the button, knot it, cut it and you are done!

The bracelet cost me less than $5 to make compare to the $35 one I was going to buy. It's great because you never know when you need extra cash... as over the weekend you may have saw me mope on Twitter- sigh, my poor, poor lens and camera.

My friend Alfred took these shots of me before we went for lunch at El Terrazzo. I always think I'd be cold in a vest as they don't cover the arms when in fact they're quite warm. I would perform mathematical calculation between the ambient and my body temperature in relation to the threshold in which my arms freeze and fall off but this is a fashion blog. So let's keep it simple- vests are warm.

DIY: Glitter Booties

A pair of booties I glittered last week. They remind me of the Miu Miu glitter booties. My sister bought these shoes almost 10 years ago and my parents wouldn't throw them out even though they're so worn. Mom and dad are semi hoarders and it used to dive me crazy... But now it is in my favour as I picked up a bunch of stuff to DIY and my sister finally got rid of her shoes... 10 years later.

Here are the steps:

1. You would need a pair of shoes, white glue, glitter, a brush, painter's tape and clear varnish.

2. Tape the parts that you don't want glitter to get on. Apply white glue evenly onto the booties then sprinkle the glitter on.

3. Keep sprinkling until all areas are covered.

Tip: Sprinkle in a container or a shoe box so it's easier to clean up

4. Spray varnish over the booties and let it dry over night.

Vola! Now go walk around like Tinkerbell, you little sparkle-doodle.

The other day my sisters and I went to catch crabs in Sydney, BC. I apologize for the semi misleading title but if I name the post "Catching Crabs in Sydney" I am certain this may fall into Google's STI search results. But, if seeing my face promote you to practice safe sex... then I'm glad to help.

Moving on to the crabs, all we did was put the net with our bait into the ocean and went to Starbucks. By the time we drank our lattes four crabs were already in the net. Ha! Dumb crabs! They could have just eat the bait and GTFO as one of the net was laid completely flat. But whatever, you eat my bait and I eat you.

This is one of my favorite spot in Victoria and it's only a 5 minute drive from our house. I totally miss living right by the ocean, and don't I remind you of the boy in Maurice Sendak's "Where The Wild Things Are"? Except I didn't sail away and ate enough fun stuff to party with life sized stuff animals.

Anyhoo, Sendak's book would have ended in Chapter 2 if I was the main character. I get motion sickness from spinning in circles, let alone sail away on a raft- I can't even handle the tea cup ride in Disneyland without going pukey after. True Story.

Happy New Year! I like to start 2012 with this set of amazing photos in Numero China. It reminds me of the Mandarin movies I used to watch with my mom back in Taiwan when I was younger. I didn't understand them but it was better than nap time. And then in High school mom used to get mad at me for napping in church. I know, like, she wanted me to nap just years prior, and I was actually quietly praying. I wasn't snoring, I was pushing my weekly sins out from my nostrils while nodding to their preaching. Geeze.

Right before I left Justyna and I went to the Ottawa Antique Market on Bank. What a wonderful way to spend a cold winter afternoon- AND I haggled into a $25 discount for my antique cameras. It had me all giddy. I know. I'm SO Asian, and I'm SO going back there when I get back.

DIY: Ostrich Feather Earrings

Remember the feather headpiece I wore for Halloween? Well it fell apart after I woke up the next day- one of the featherswent south... So over the weekend weekend I converted the headpiece to earrings!

I may have used the piece for Halloween, and now these earrings will work for NYE. Both nights are celebrations, and considering how girls now dress for Halloween it's no different than NYE but with an extra cat tail or bunny ears.

Here are the steps

1. You will need 2 ostrich feathers, 2 strands of rhinestone (I used my old bracelets), earring hooks and clamps.

2. Use a clamper and attach the metal clamps to the end of the feather. Then attach the earring hooks onto the metal clamp.

3. Use a glue gun and glue the rhinestone strand on top of the feather where the metal clamp is.

And now you got some feathered friends on your ears. And next year for Halloween you can totally get away with just wearing something slutty, point to those earrings and say "Duh, I'm an ostrich"- recycle and reuse!

DIY: Place Mat Shape Necklace

I normally dress relatively simple so statement necklaces are a great way to Orlando Bloom my outfit. I mean Orlando Bloom in Lord Of The Rings, not Orlando Bloom with a dirty stash- You know exactly that I'm talking about.

So here's a statement necklace I made out of a place mat. Who needs an Orlando Bloom (or any guy for that matter) when you can always do it yourself?! That, is a statement and a euphemism. Fashion is so satirical.

Here are the steps

1. You will need a place mat, glue gun, scissors, a coiled wire necklace, and some chains (optional). Cut the placemat into various (but similar) widths.

Tip: Get a thicker place mat, you want the decorations to have some weight so it doesn't look flimsy.

2. Cut the strips into two different lengths as shown below. Don't worry that the widths are slightly different, it adds to the uneven charm.

3. Glue the strips onto a coiled wire necklace.

4. You can leave it onto the existing coiled wired necklace as the final project. For me I cut the wired necklace, clamp it and attached it to a gold chain.

Here is the final product of the necklace! It's an easy statement piece and the place mat was only $3. Another cheap and easy DIY!

I've been decorating my bedroom for over 2 years now. It has taken me a long time since I usually only buy sale items unless I really love something. Thankfully the newly renovated Ikea here in Ottawa offer furniture to home accessories that finally pushed me to finishing my bedroom, with some Swedish meatballs break in between. By the way, to walk through the new Ikea is a total of 1.3 km. I know, shopping should be on TSN.

And not to have you worry, I've put my gimp suit and vials of blood away for the sake of these photos. But I'll have you know I wore them when I took these pictures. Bazinga.

DIY: Christmas Paper Ornaments

Perhaps it's the name of my blog that people think I drink a lot and so I often receive liquor as gifts. In reality, I'm usually the one driving and so under the blue moon when I do drink all it takes is a quarter of a bottle of wine before I get... really happy.

So in this post I'm going to convert my gifted liquor bags into Christmas ornaments. Because this saves on seasonal decorations which results in having more cash for purses and shoes. Dear Lady Dior, I'm $8 closer to you now!

Here are the steps

1. You will need a few gift bags with cool prints, some tacs, and scotch tape

2. Cut the bags into strips of various lengths but keep them all the same width. Keep in mind each ball require 7-8 strips of equal length.

3. Stick a tac through each strip until all 7 strips are on, bend the tac. Do it for both ends of the strip.

4. Fan out the strips evenly. When your ball looks good, tape the tac down from the inside to secure the ball.

And after doing these steps a few times you have a whole bowl of Christmas ornaments for the price of almost nothing! My favorite form of DIY!

The first time I met a h8tor was in the 6th grade. Kyle would taunt me in public from pulling my hair to making fun of my clothes every day. High school was a bit more difficult since you couldn't just "punch away", but what doesn't kill you make you bitchier.

DIY: Fringe And Chain Necklace

I know I just made a fringe necklace, but when I like something, I do it over and over. Like putting a song on repeat for weeks at a time or going on the roller coaster in Sea World until I had a date with the public toilet.

So here is another fringe necklace! I got the idea from the Cavern seed bead fringe necklace. And when you like something but you ain't got it, DIY it until you do!

Here are the Steps:

1. You would need fringe lining, chains, hoops, and thread & needle for this DIY.

2. Sew a knot to combine the fringe ends. I sewed the knot about 7 inches from the neck.

3. Combine a few chains onto a hoop

4. Sew the hoop onto the fringe around where you want it. I sewed mine so it ends on my upper shoulder.

Another easy DIY! Thought I'd show this necklace on this mini bustier I bought last week. I love it!

Holiday Nails with Deborah Lippmann

With tomorrow's Christmas party at Ottawa Life Magazine I already have my nails done and I plan on wearing my champagne colored sweater with... I don't know yet. Bottoms are minor details anyway. If Louis Vuitton can "forget" pants on their S/S 12 runway then I am going without. Who needs pants when I got my awesome DIY Deborah Lippmann manicure?

On second thought, I should on a pair to avoid getting arrested. I know, what kind of a backwards society are we in when people can't be a pantless ho in public unless they are Lady Gaga? Tell me about it.

I applied Two coats of Deborah Lippmann's "Glamorous Life" and two coats of "Good Girl Gone Bad" at the tip of my nails.

DIY: Christmas In A Jar

First Christmas DIY! How about converting those swear jars into Christmas in a jar? Now you can swear all you want, and not worry about trampling your decorations when you're drunk on eggnog.

People aren't fearful of throwing a few quarters in a jar anyways- if you really want to punish them try locking them in a room blasting Selena Gomez's "Love You Like a Love Song" for an afternoon- I'd probably profusely rub sandpaper against my ear "repeat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat" until it falls off.

Here are the steps:

1. Get some jars, cotton balls ribbons and christmas decorations that will fit into the jar.

2. Place the cotton balls then the decorations.You can glue the decorations down if you like. Finish it with a bow.

I've had my eyes on this shiny sweater for over a month and then it went on sale! Hurray! It goes so well with my bracelet from Urban Lace Jewelry- I foresee some par-tay par-tay in this outfit.

Urban Lace make their pieces out of recycled bicycle inner tube. Their length can be customized so it's great for people with small wrists like me- in which we make up for by having a huge... femur? Collar bone? Placenta? You'll have to find out some other time.

The other day I came across my vintage Versace sweater buried deep in my closet I forgot about. It was as though the roof opened with a beam of light and angels sang hallelujah around my closet. I looked more happy than my kindergarten picture, which doesn't happen often- I mean, smile and you get a lollipop? If only I get that treatment now.

Would you like some brownies? It seems more fitting that I offer you special brownies with this outfit. The jeans sent from Tru Luxe were mistakenly 2 sizes too big, but I end up loving the baggy feel. Tru Luxe came from LA and is known for their rhinestone embellishments. Cuz nothing makes someone check out your butt when it's bedazzled. And you can tell people that you got butt leprosy from Edward Cullen.

DIY: Fringe Necklace

I was totally going to get this Martin Margiela necklace but then I decided to make my own. The first reason is because I can, and the second reason is because it's nice to make your own things.

Fashion and food always prompt me to know if I can make it myself. I mean, being Taiwanese, have you used a Chinese restaurant's bathroom?! How can you have an appetite after pissing in what looks like a scene from the movie "Hostel" while smelling mummified skunk bathroom air? So it pays if you make your own food and jewelry, I tell ya!

Here are the steps:

1. Get a gold chain with hoops big enough to fit the two suede cords through.

2. Cut the suede into pieces in various lengths (mine is about half an inch difference). Cut two of each length as you want your necklace to be symmetrical. I used 2 different colors but feel free to just use one or more.

Tip: if you got your suede wrapped up like mine, use an iron to flatter them

3. Start from the very middle- fold the suede cord in half, put it through a chain hoop, then hoop the cord through the suede hoop. Pull and tighten. Do this for every chain hoop until you feel there's enough fringes.

4. Trim the suede cords to make it the V shape if you have to.

4. (Optional) Crimp a suede string onto each end of the chain if your chain isn't long enough.

And here you have it- A statement necklace that doesn't require extensive jewelry craftsmanship. Now go work on your fried rice dish, okla?

One Afternoon Stand with Vera Wang

A month ago I was assisting Justyna in a bridal shoot with some dresses from The White Dress Bridal Couture. Indeed it was a fun play date with Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka and Monique Lhuillier.

It was an afternoon of awws and if I had a fainting couch I would have put it to use. So of course I took some pictures during the shoot to share with you- sharing is caring! And I'm offering to share vacuuming and moping my floor too, because I care about you soo much! Aren't I just a giant heart plush today!?

The weekend consisted of lattes, playing with my Marc by Marc Jacobs rubik cube, and hanging out with Turbo. Oh almost having a Christian Bale moment when my tenant's pink towel dyed my white bedsheets pink. It was like Adam Lambert mated with my sheets- I'm still getting over the sads.

Excuse me while I skin Twilight's Jacob Black and wear him on my head. That's okay though, he was whiny in Breaking Dawn like an Adele song on repeat and creepy with the "I'll love your child Bella because you won't love me".

The stretch corduroy pants are from Unionbay and they get more comfortable with each wash. Initially it was difficult to button up the pants. But eventually I got on the pants after stomach sucking with cries from the crotch as it was getting strangled- I'm a fighter not a quitter!

DIY: Cut It Short

A few weeks ago I went thrift shopping and found what looks like a leftover costume piece. Perhaps someone dressed up like a wax candle on Hanukkah with this skirt? Regardless, my tingles told me it had DIY potential so I bought it.

As I have said before, skirts can always be shorter and the mess can always be messier. Like this skirt and Turbo's diarrhea (in which I will spare you a picture of) as examples.

Ottawa Food And Wine 2011

A few Saturdays ago Ottawa foodies and I braved the cold to attend the Ottawa Food and Wine Show. "Let ye drink and be merry!" says I, “...and be married already!” says my grandma.

Another lazy weekend! Here are a few of my currently favourite things I'm sharing before seeing Twilight: Breaking Dawn tonight. I know, the movies are cheesy, the books are teenage romance novels but it's my guilty pleasure (I'm team Edward by the way).

I had the opportunity to try out the PMD personal Microdem system. It helps with wrinkle reduction and scars- I use it on the scar on my hand, it has gotten better after a few treatments, lets hope my V for Vendetta scars will eventually disappear.

By the way, has anyone actually done the Jeffrey Campbell crossword puzzle? Twitter me if you have because I'm stuck on a few words!

Donatella Versace Nixes Real Women As Models For H&M Line

If you are the size of an average person then forget about being photographed in Donatella Versace's H&M collection where you look like you got everything from the "ethnic" section of Fabric Land. That's okay, you can come with me to the grocery store's "ethnic" section to pick out my next bag of rice (seriously, I'm out). As Daily News report:

… The H&M publicist initially explained by email that the “Model New Yorkers” photo feature could probably not go forward because Versace had to approve “anyone who wears the collection for press” — and, she added, “Donatella will likely not approve shooting the collection on real women.”

She was right. When the Daily News writer organizing the shoot sent the publicist photos of two of the three women he wanted to use — all recent college graduates who work in the city — the answer came back that only one was acceptable.

Yea yea yea, I understand that Donatella is being unreasonable as H&M sell stuff for people of all sizes. And yea, I also understand that Donatella has a vision for her collection and to alter it is to change her collection’s image, which then wouldn’t be Versace. It's just a bit hard to take someone seriously when their face has less moving parts than a vacuum cleaner.

DIY: Jeffrey Campbell Tick Wedges Inspired

The other day I found a pair of my old hooker boots in my closet. Well, I ain't a hooker, but they do look like hooker boots. Hey, heels can be higher, hair can be bigger and mess can be messier… As long as you’re wearing something you like then good for you.

Lately I've being slightly obsessed with the Jeffrey Campbell tick wedges that I made my boots look like them. Do you like them?! I do. And that's a redundant question as either way it has been made, and I’m going to show you how:

Here are the steps

1. You will need a pair of think wedge boots, a hammer, and tacs... and a LOT of patience! This DIY took me about 2.5 hours.

Original shoes... I've had these for more than 5 years now.

2. Hammer a line of tacs up and down the back of the boots

3. Start from the 2nd row to the bottom (you will have to eye it), put a tac on the 2nd row to bottom, then a tac on the very bottom, then a tac on the 2nd row etc… Then work your way row by row upwards.

4. Now do shoe number two, all over again. I did it while watching "He's Just Not That Into You", which turned out to be not a good movie in case you want to know...

And here is the final product! Hope you like it!

Should I Stay Or Should I Go

A few weeks ago I attended Le Chateau's "Expert Style" event and picked up my fuzzy white neck friend and some rings. Then I loitered around the sidewalk resulting in these pictures.

From the looks of these, I`m really just a popped collar away from being those lurkers hanging outside the chicks' washroom at a night club. I always wonder what kind of ladies do they pick up doing that? Perhaps they're attracted to ones with an empty bladder.

Dakota Fanning's Marc Jacobs Ad Got Banned

When I see Marc Jacobs' “Oh, Lola!” ad I see Dakota Fanning being cute. But when the British Advertising Standards Authority see this ad they see a skankasaurus giving the bedroom eye and holding the bottle in a sexual position. And so, they banned the ad with the following statement:

"We noted that the model was holding up the perfume bottle which rested in her lap between her legs and we considered that its position was sexually provocative. We understood the model was 17 years old but we considered she looked under the age of 16. We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualise a child. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible and was likely to cause serious offense."

If Dakota was a dude then holding the bottle in that position would be somewhat scandalous. And if people consider a chick putting something between her thighs is offensive, then I need to complain to HR about our team building where we had to balance a ping pong ball on a tennis racket between our legs. If only this controversy was a few months earlier then I could have skipped the event!

And if you ask me what an offensive Marc Jacobs ad would be, I would tell you:

1. "Oh Lola! A few fragrance for women, even the dead ones"
2. "Oh Lola! Wear it or I'll Chris Brown you"

And now all of the sudden Dakota’s ad looks rather tame, doesn’t it?

DIY: Tarina Tarantino Sugar Skulls Inspired

While Halloween is over, I’m still indulging in leftover chocolates and loving all things skulls. And while I generally throw away decorations after the festivities are over, I did find a use for the plastic skulls that I hung on my door for the trick or treaters.

Not too long ago Tarina Tarantino debuted her "sugar skulls" collection. As you can imagine, I went bonkers and my eyes were all bulgy. Although I couldn’t bare spending $83 on a plastic charm bracelet I often browsed her site just starring at the sugar skulls... And now I have all the equipments to make one! Eureka!

Here are the steps

1. Get a few skull heads with holes through the top of the skull. You can also drill the holes through the plastic skull with a nail and hammer.

This was $1 from the Dollar Store.

2. Paint them in whatever color with acrylic paint. Let them dry. Then spray paint the Deco Art Glossy Finish for the shiny finish.

I let it dry over night. And as for the pink- I tried painting them pink prior and I didn't like how it looked.

3. String the skulls and the beads. Alternate between skulls and beads.

4. (Optional) Use a glue gun and glue some rhinestones into the skull’s eyes.

... and nothing is more comforting than looking down at your arm to see a bunch of skulls with shiny eyes smiling back at you. I smile at them back.

Getting some legs action in before covering up for fall with a borrowed Lustre skirt from Justyna. I’ve been favoring stripes with prints lately- and leopard is always one of my favs.

My pondering look was the cause of processing last week’s episode of America’s Next Top Model (aka "a show about Tyra Banks starring Tyra Banks narrated by Tyra Banks") where the models had to write a song and star in their own video. I’m not sure what the heck a pot ledom is but pass me some, because I would love to see the crazy the way Tyra sees the crazy.

Hana Air With Misikko

A few months ago my blow dryer caught on fire- and I'm not fabricating this story. The extended version goes like this: I finished showering and was blowing my hair. I saw flames coming out of my hair dryer and I freaked out, threw the dryer in the sink, unplugged it with a cloth and flapped around until the flames died. It was like Satan possessed my blow dryer. That was the moment I learned not to cheap out on blow dryers.

So it was a good thing when Misikko contacted me offering a Hana Air hair dryer. Unlike my previous hair dryer (RIP) this one was voted one of the best dryers and comes with infrared ionic heat and three different heat settings. My hair felt softer with no static clings and it took a lot less time to dry. So wah-lah! Watch me while I fling my hair around like those commercials on TV: Easy, Breasy, Beautiful, No Flames Hair!

You Say I'm Not Your Type But I Can Make You Sway

While a light colored blazer is a summer trend- I still wear them all the time. But I’ve always been one of those nonconformist who wears white after labor day (like in this post) and delay my oil change when the light has been on for weeks. Hey, I’ll get it changed when I want to get it changed.

I wish that is the case. In reality I delay my oil change because I’d rather spend that money on another light colored blazer.

DIY: Cosmic Print On Shoes

Over the weekend I addressed my artstic and Jeffrey Campbells itch by painting my boots like the Jeffrey Campbell Cosmic Litas. The task fulfilled my craving of buying the actual shoes and as a result saved me $200… So I spent it by buying another pair of Jeffrey Campbell and will be eyeing the mail man like he’s my lost love for the next week or two.

Now before you point out the flaw in my logic, let’s just enjoy my DIY Jeffrey Campbell Cosmic print on my old boots…

Here are the steps

1. Get yourself a pair of old shoes, acrylic paint (I got red, white, metallic silver and blue), a brush and a few sponges.

2. Paint your shoes with a brush and vary the shades of the paint as you apply it on. Don’t worry about blending the shades evenly as that won’t look like the cosmic print.

3. After the coat is dry, dab additional paint on with a sponge. Start with the darker colors and work your way to white. Make it spontaneous and don’t be afraid of the random bursts of paint.

4. Carefully dab white paint on like the stars with a pointed brush.

Steps 2 to 4 shown in the pictures above.

5. Spray some glaze on the shoes after the paint has dried to protect the paint. I used Deco Art's Triple Thick Glaze Lustre.

Make sure you spray it outside as the smell can be overwhelming.

And here is the final result! I now love my boots 10 times more than before.

Here is a trick to convert those summer maxis to something fresh for fall- roll it up, pin it, and you have yourself a cool looking bunched up skirt. Let’s show a little leg while the weather is still relatively warm and we don’t freeze doing so, shall we?

The booties are from Naughty Monkey and have excellent cushioning that makes it easy to walk on or dance in. Speaking of dancing, these will match with anything from skirts to jeans when you do your bar hop thing. Since I can’t help you with your walk of shame on Sunday morning, I at least prepared you nice footwear for it. Yea yea yea, I'm so considerate!

Look Ma! I'm In Paper! Indeed that is my face on the front page of Ottawa Citizen for Saturday, October 22nd, beside headline “Ottawa’s Top Fashion Bloggers”. It is on the same cover as death of Gadhafi, and I didn’t even have to get shot! I always thought the day I make front page on local newspaper would be the day I get wheeled away in a straitjacket so this is a definite pleasant surprise.

My favourite piece of fashion: A black well-tailored blazer will never lose its lustre.

What I covet most: The Rolex my dad got me for graduation. But he could have got me a mug and I would have loved it as much. You can buy anything except sentimental values.

Ottawa’s best-kept secret: Mafia Jewelry has some amazing statement accessories. Demü showroom is great because Angie, the designer for Demü Label, takes time to customize pieces the way you want them for no additional cost. You can’t get better customer service than that.

What Ottawa needs now: I would love to see people wearing what they want to wear. If you love coloured pants, then get some really bright ones. If you love the Olsens’ effortless look, get the really loose sweater or exploit the messy bed hair. Of course, don’t try this at work. If you want to, don’t mention that I told you so, it will make me look bad.

My last assignment: Putting together an outfit which features a piece designed by a Canadian designer for Flare.com.

My inspiration: It ranges from traveling and experiencing different culture to good street style. I love it when a woman dresses for herself. You can feel the inspiration through the persona and the creativity of her outfit.

DIY: Feather Hair Pin

Birds of the feather don't necessary flock together but I do have an obsession with feather accessories. And if you would like to flock with me let's do some DIY feather hair pin together! Yay! It doesn’t take long to make and as TI would say, "you can clip wherever you like, oh you can clip wherever you like".

Here are the steps:

1. The materials you need

2. Cut two strands of chain at different lengths. The length will depend on how long you want your feather accessories to drape. The lighter the chain the better as a bobby pin will be holding it up in your hair.Attach the two metal strands to a hoop, put the hoop through a bobby pin.

3. Attach the feathers to a crimp. Use a pair of scissors to shape the feather ends if you like.

4. Add some beads to the end of each chain then join it with the feather.

And you are done! The next one I want to do is replace the white feathers with peacock feathers, that would look really good, Don't you think?

Cambridge Satchels Review: The Low Down

Surfing InStyle I came across the article “Cambridge Satchels: A New Celebrity Favorite!”. Favourite! Cambridge Satchels are getting increasing popular through Lookbook.nu and style blogs. They're the new Alexander Wang Coco Duffle. But then I quickly remember how I really feel about these satchels- And it’s not all puppies and bubble gum.

So I present you with my review of the Cambridge Satchel. Because like Fox Mulder from X Files, you want the truth, and it is out there if you Google, or visit my blog. I kid. Moving on...

The Visual
The stiff and structured satchel will bring you an arm party and half. The 14" is large enough to carry a few magazines, an umbrella, wallet and other cosmetics you need. This, my friends, is the Mary Poppins bag of 2011.

14" Cambridge Satchel in pink, the red key is my car wash pass- thought I'd mention it because everyone asks me that.

The Material
The satchel is made of leather with a very smooth surface causing this to be VERY easily scratched. I accidently left something semi heavy on the satchel and even that made a minor dent to it. So forget about getting this bag if you are accident prone.

The Practicality
The flaps and buckles actually serve the purpose of flaps and buckles. As in, you have to physically unbuckle the strap, take something out, and buckle it back up. By then you would have missed the incoming call, or instead of the mugger demanding for your wallet he would have impatiently stabbed you and taken your entire bag. FYI, Bruises heal but a missing bag will still remain missing.

It takes a good 7 seconds to unbuckle and open the bag- so no more taking spontaneous phone pictures

Customer Service
According to their website, Cambridge Satchel takes a month for the bag to be successfully delivered, but it took me a little over 2 months to receive it (and I had to cough up $40 for duty while the bag was only $165). During that time I got zero responses when I sent them my inquiries. Even type writer monkeys working for proverbial bananas would have responded in that amount of time, no?

The Cambridge Satchel is not practical and their customer service is equivalent of your d-bag ex that never returned your messages, but my affinity for leather bag still continues. If you want a practical bag, use a grocery bag. It's big, it’s water proof and it always looks like you got food- The mentioning of food serve no purpose for the review but I could use a sandwich right now.

Masquerade For One

Seeing I haven’t experienced a sober Halloween for a while, I may not be the Halloween expert. But I can offer you one Halloween advice: This is the only night of the year where you can be whatever you want without being judged. So show off your inner freak show you munchkin.

Seen here is myself at my own masquerade (it's that exclusive) with the help of from La Vie en Rose. I've worn the lustre dress many times with everything from kimono cardigans to boyfriend blazers. But adding a mask and some lace gloves vola comes a Halloween costume. As for the flapper dress, you can dress up as one of those, or wear it on a regular night with a knitter sweater and cute wedges. No one would know it was a costume. See? The possibilities of integrating costumes to everyday pieces and vice versa is endless!

So visit La Vie en Rose for some Halloween ideas and have fun being whoever you want to be. I won't judge- unless you powder yourself white and dangle a baby off your balcony.

Hail to high waist shorts. They make my butt look flat but I would still indulge in high rise bottoms every day... Even to run down Chinese restaurants that served buffet lunches for $8.99 (I miss their msgs).

So say farewells to low cut jeans and say hello to high waist! Yes, they don't do much for boys. But wear what you want because sexy is in your attitude. And if the dude turns you down because of your attire he's probably boring and the type who flirts with elves on World of Warcraft. Ya, I went there.

Some Eye Candy For You...

If you stare at these pictures long enough you will see how good of a tranny I can be. Welcome to the superficial post of you gazing into my colored eyes and purple wig. Sure, while those are artificial, they do make me feel pretty wicked while I lip synch to Tina Turner on my Ikea futon to my crowd of cushions. After all, where’s the fun when you don’t indulge and dress up once in a while?

Showing the lenses are from Eye Candy Lens as they have an extensive selection of contact lenses that can turn your eyeballs into all sorts of fun. Both pairs I got are really comfortable and go hours without my eyes being itchy. So go do your click thing. Then do your Tina Turner. Really. It’s fun.

Take this beautiful Vogue Korea editorial as an example- You can’t help but notice the plentiful zest to the Gaga dresser uppers. But take away the wig and the Dior and Agent Provocateur attire in the picture above- and you’re left 3 pairs of Snooki sunglasses. Those models better take them off before they have to explain to their gynecologist how those glasses gave them eyeball STDs. But you have to give serious kudos to Vogue for their ability to glam up the unexpected!

DIY: Frilly T Shirt Scarf

Scarves are a great alternative for those itchy turtlenecks to keep your neck warm. In this this post I am going to demonstrate the prospect of DIYing your own scarf out of an old t shirt. Eventually you will have so many scarves you will be the crazy scarf lady cuz it's so easy to do! But that’s okay, because your neck will be covered, and this is cheaper than drinking out of a flask to keep yourself warm. But you can thank me by buying me some whiskey anyways.

Here are the steps:

1. Get a old t shirt and a sharp pair of scissors. Time to say goodbye to your head Alice...

2. Cut the shirt from the armpit, and cut off the bottom seam.

3. Cut the shirt into frills in however long you want the frills to be, pull on the frills and tie a knot to the end.

And you are done! Did I not tell you that this is super easy to do!?

So remember I was on the ranch during Thanksgiving babbling in Gwyneth Paltrow? Well thankfully that was just a portion of it. I also had some pictures taken for Flare’s website as I gleefully accepted their request of featuring a Canadian piece for their “Wear Canada: Blogger Edition”.

I featured my pants from Birds of North America because they’re so comfortable and they go with everything. And instead of doing red and white I opted brown and grey but was singing to Justin Bieber, the Annie Lennox of Canadian pop music (says me, because if you have a few and squint really hard they sort of look the same). Try it.

It's sweater season but not cold enough for layering yet. But there's no early fall weather problem that cannot be solved with a sweater. In fact, most problems can be solved with a simple sweater.

For example, the crack heads around my weekend hang out could use a sweater, they're always swearing probably because they're cold. And don't mope about fluffy dropping the bucket, turn her into a sweater instead, then it will always have a place near your heart. Just flea dip it before you do so.

Couture Gowns: Let's Oogle

Never mind that the model looks like she's been listening to Adele's songs on repeat in these shots from the May issue of Harper's Bazaar Espana (I've seen the unsexy version of that look on myself, it happened around the 101th time "Rolling In The Deep" was on in a mall change room) for the next few minutes let us oogle over these couture frocks and gowns. While the Maxime Simoens, Chanel, Elie Saab and Gaultier dresses channel the trend in femme and beautiful silhouettes, Maison Martin Margiela Arlesanal and Valentino went for the drama. Ahhh... Other than being in one, is there really more to life than seeing really, really, ridiculously good looking gowns?

So while we nonchalantly roll our eyes pretending like we can just buy 3 or 4 of these and drink our morning tea with our pinky in the air, which one is your favorite?

DIY: Detachable Collar

The collar trend is calling out everywhere this season, reminding us of sweet tea parties preppy dresses. And it totally make me want one. Yes, I’m that person who would crave a pizza after seeing a pizza commercial.

So being crafty, I decided to recreate my own collar instead of buying a collar shirt. It saves money and closet space as you can just attach it to an existing shirt. So you can wear the same shirt 2 days in a row- Ohh does that bring me back to my private school days.

Here are the steps:

1. Cut out your collar on paper. Measure your neck size and use a compass to draw the inner circle. Then draw the outer one depending on how thick you want your collar to be. I drew how I wanted my collar freehand but you can trace out an existing collar on one of your dress shirts for precision.

Option: I Cut my collar paper in half as I thought it would be easier to sew it later.

2. Take your fabrics, pin them to the collar template and cut them out.

3. Sew the fabric pieces together and don’t forget to attach a piece of black string on each end of the collar.

4. Sew the two half collars together and you are done!

Ta-Da! Have fun!

Sleek silk blouse and short shorts has been one of my favorite combinations. I’m trying to get sick of wearing shorts and skirts as they will soon be in the back of my closet until next May. Boourns on the Ottawa weather. This galaxy blouse, though, will be one of my favorites until then. It was a gift from Justyna and has been my antidote for dreary work days with bold prints and the oh-so-nice fabric.

As for the title, Darren Hayes from Savage Garden made my pre-pubescent childhood all dreamy before he came out. Looking at my Savage Garden collage in my diary I don’t know why I didn’t see that with his skin tight leather pants and mesh shirts. Things you pick up as you get older huh?

I don't judge how people spend their money as I’ve often spend money on ridiculous things such as overpriced craft fair tickets at the US Ambassador’s house just so I can say that I’ve used their bathroom. But what type of people would buy the Olsen Twin’s $39,000 handbag and so much that it is sold out during time of recession?! As WWD reports:

Ashley Olsen said the label was rushing to keep up with demand for its much-publicized alligator backpack, which comes with an eye-watering $39,000 price tag. “It was the first thing that sold off the shelf,” she said, noting that extreme luxury tends to perform well during uncertain economic times.

$39,000 for some creature hanging around since the dinosaur times that even the ice age couldn’t get rid of? At least spend $39,000 on a Hermes limited trick, or on something totally exotic like a bag made of baby albino dolphin skinned under a lunar eclipse by a Rastafarian.

Canadian Thanksgiving Thanks Blog

Currently I’m on a ranch where I’m spending Thanksgiving aiding my busy soul by emerging in western culture. Being a well educated person with the privileges that I’m fortunate to have, I always try to find ways to upgrade ordinary things like from driving in a perfectly fine car to riding on a horse. Wow, now I understand why Gwyneth Paltrow talks like Gwyneth Paltrow, it’s actually kind of fun. Forget about Thanksgiving, there should be a national “talk like GOOP day” instead.

So I want to take advantage of the thankfulness in Thanksgiving to thank everyone who supports Pop Champagne over the years. I’ve been fortunate to meet some awesome people from blogging. Whether we physically hang out or we communicate online on a regular basis, I’m thankful to have met you!

Last week I received an e mail from Rachel Sin inviting me to wear one of her pieces for her show. It took me about two seconds to say yes and pick out the dress. When I got the Chloe dress, I thought “yea it's cute”. But then I put it on and then I thought: This is THE happening. I even received compliments from three gay guys that night. THREE! Like, you know it's good when!

So then a proposition came in my mind to start wearing this dress to glam up the unexpected, like to the grocery store, to work, and when I give birth. It’s an ugly sight when a woman gives birth with the screaming and baby coming out a place you never thought it's big enough for, so what better way to glam it up but with a Rachel Sin dress? And yes, I might get sent home if I wear this to work, OR I might get a big fat raise. Gosh, the glass is always empty with you people isn't it?

And in case you noticed my multiple outfits- these pictures were taken over a span of 3 days. So no, I'm not some attention craving loser who perform multiple outfit changes in the same event on the same night. Ottawa Fashion Week S/S 2012 Pt2

Part two of Ottawa Fashion Week. As much fun as OFW is, I can't wait for tonight when I will be in bed by 9:30pm. While it is not a bad thing to loose sleep to fashion as I dream about Matthew McConaughey approaching me with a Louis Vuitton on a silver platter on regular basis- "Oh baby, bring it to me!" I would say. But this isn't the time to talk about sleep and dreams. So let's move on to the second portion of OFW with light fabric, floral prints and all that fun spring stuff.

Ottawa Fashion Week Media Launch, Partay Partay

In case you are wondering what’s with the mix of fragrance and pretty dresses around Ottawa these days- It’s Ottawa Fashion Week again. Hurray! I know, I know, looking at fashion is like, so hard. And you’re on your heels for hours at a time, so so hard- I actually mean this one cuz blisters can be a byatch. But as my aunt with a pool boy material bf says: your feet only hurts when you aren’t drunk enough, missy!

On to the events of OFW, it was the media launch party on Wednesday night and as usual it was a good time of popping champagne with some fantastic peeps. OFW is still going on tonight and tomorrow with some exciting shows coming -in other words, if you are going, I hope to see you there and let’s be a giddy gee together!

DIY: Moschino Dress To Top

A few weeks ago Justyna from chameleonic had a closet cleaning party. One of the items I picked up was this beautiful vintage Moschino dress which she was going to donate- blasphemous!

Okay so the top is full of frilly bow goodness, but the bottom is... Holy Crotch Puff! It's like whoever designed it started drinking and by the time they got to the bottom portion the booze kicked in, they passed out, woke up the next day, went "oh crap" and scribbled down whatever and dropped it off in the drop box. Well, that's my speculation base on my university life.

Before the alternation

As it is vintage Moschino, I was determined to make it work. So I cut the bottom portion of the dress and made it into a top. Ta da! As much as I like to enhence my lovely lady parts... I think the final looks better than the original. Don't you agree?

This is an outfit I wore to work the other day minus the beanie: Sleeves? Check. Skirt down to knee cap? Check. Covering up boobs so others don’t know whether I got boobs or not? Check.

I carried my Cambridge satchel with my McQueen scarf. It was the first time I carried both of them out, and like a mother with a new born baby I huddled both under my cardigan to avoid it being rained on (are you suppose to do that with babies?).
